Kristin Siekmann

Kristin Siekmann has been working with clay since her first ceramics class at SUNY Fredonia in 1997.

While majoring in graphic design, she took as many (or possibly more) classes in ceramic to offset the two-dimensional world and computer driven aspects of graphic design. As a full-time graphic designer today, this still holds true. Kristin focuses of wheel throwing and functional pottery. Her go-to vessel is the mug! She believes you can’t have too many mugs and that there is comfort in a well made mug. Often, Kristin can be found quietly creating at Buffalo Clayart Center while listening to audio books. She can get in the zone and lost in both activities. Her favorite step in the ceramic process is trimming. The leather hard clay is a joy to work with because, at this stage, the piece holds its own while still being malleable for final shaping.

Kristin’s pieces can be found at Great Lakes Coffee Rosters (123 Stutzman Road, Bowmansville, NY). Stop in for a coffee and view her offerings. Yes, you need another mug!
