Instructors

The Buffalo Clayart Center has a number of talented and experienced instructors with a range of diverse skills and specialities. 

  • Emmy Ouellette

    Emmy graduated from Alfred University with a BFA concentration in Ceramics and Painting, before working for as a decorating technician for Buffalo China for ten years. She's been a valued member, teacher and studio hand at the Buffalo Clayart center since 2001. 

  • Reann Nye

    Reann started working with clay in 2013 while she was studying Communication Design at Buffalo State. She creates highly decorated thrown, slip cast, and hand built forms which emulates her graphic design background. Reann has been a member, teacher, and studio tech at BCA since 2018. 

  • Jim Kalinowski

    With over 25 years of pottery and teaching experience, Jim is a longstanding member of the Buffalo Clayart Center. He's been involved in most local shows and festivals, with his ceramics winning the Lewiston Art Festival. 

  • Ash Lorich

    Ash is a self-taught ceramicist with a primary focus on hand-building & sculptural work. Her classes emphasize creativity, personal expression, and the meditative process of working with clay.

  • Jeff Marshall

    Jeffrey Marshall is a local potter and ceramic artist from East Aurora, New York who currently resides in the city of Buffalo. He has an eclectic background that includes an apprenticeship with a Roycroft copper artisan and training with a master potter. He is a co-owner of the Buffalo Clayart Center along with Caroline Lesniak. 

  • Caroline Lesniak

    Caroline began studying ceramics in London, and joined the Buffalo Clayart Center when she moved back to her hometown of Buffalo in 2022. She likes to experiment with different forms and styles, but especially likes clean, delicate shapes on white or buff stoneware and sculptural elements. She also makes very silly cat dishes.  She is a co-owner of the Buffalo Clayart Center along with Jeff Marshall.
